The Campus Diagonal-Besòs

Opened in September 2016, the new Campus Diagonal-Besòs started the activities of the School of Engineering of Barcelona East (EEBE) with 3.500 students and 400 teachers and researchers. A new UPC center that brings together the teaching and research activities of the University School of Industrial Technical Engineering of Barcelona (EUETIB) and a part of the teaching and research related to the fields of chemical and material engineering of the Technical School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona (ETSEIB).

The new purpose-built Campus has been designed to provide an excellent learning environment and base for research and knowledge exchange. Its main objective is to become a cornerstone for boosting economic activities in knowledgeable and productive areas that are strategic for Barcelona and Catalonia. When the project is completed, the built area will be arranged into thirteen buildings, eight of which are for the use of the University while the other five will be for institutions and companies whose R+D activities are linked to the Campus.

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), the Government of Catalonia and the municipalities of Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs are leading the project in order to boost the Campus in its role as a driver of economic and social change in favour of the surrounding area and Catalonia as a whole.

At the moment, the Campus is equipped with 3 buildings destined primarily to the teaching and research of industrial engineering, especially in the following technologies:

Building A: The 27,979m2 host in its twelve plants teaching facilities, and thirteen research groups in different fields of engineering (biomedicine, electricity, electronics and automatic industrial, energy, materials, mechanics and chemistry).

Building C: Eight floors and with 11,619 m2, it hosts six research groups in energy, materials and nanotechnology and a small part of the Center for Research in Science and Engineering Multi-layer of Barcelona.

Building I: Also, with eight floors and an area of 13,202 m2, there are eight research groups, three of which work in the field of materials engineering and five in the field of chemical engineering. In addition, it hosts the largest part of the Center for Research in Science and Multi-Scale Engineering of Barcelona.
