Energy Transition Conference 2018 Barcelona

In the framework of the European Energy Days 2018, the Campus Diagonal-Besòs of the UPC held on the 19 June the ENERGY TRANSITION CONFERENCE. A conference that highlighted different ways to achieving the “energy transition”, the European long-term plan to reduce gas emissions by 80-95% by the year 2050.

The event was hosted by the Mayor of Sant Adrià de Besòs, Joan Callau; the rector of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Francesc Torres; the General Director of Research of the Generalitat of Catalonia; Francesc Subirada, the Councilor of the Presidency and Water and Energy of the Barcelona City Council; the communication manager of the European agency Fusion for Energy, Stavros Chatzipanagiotou; and the Deputy Director of Research and Transfer of the School of Engineering of Barcelona East (EEBE).

During the Conference, there was the opportunity to know about the situation of the energy transition through the presentations of Megan Richards, energy director of the European Commission; Michael Schäfer, director of the Word Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) and Shakeib Arshad, the European Fusion For Energy Agency.

The event brought together more than 200 professionals and experts from the public administration and the energy industry.
